About

After several years teaching high school English, Alyssa began her career as a therapist in private practice in 2000. She has treated all ages of clients working to solve issues pertaining to ADHD, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, Grief/Loss, Marriage and Relationship struggles, and OCD. In addition to maintaining her private practice, in 2010 Alyssa became the school counselor at The Independent School, working with students Pre-K-12th grade. In 2018 she was promoted to Head of Lower School. Being an educational leader, Alyssa has a special heart for students and families struggling with school/education related issues. Alyssa utilizes several main techniques in therapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Play/Art Therapy, and Mindfulness. She is also certified in the treatment of ADHD and involves the family and school (if needed) to help the student be more successful.
