Life is full of uncertainty and challenges and sometimes our usual coping, resources, and knowledge are not enough to help manage these situations. We might notice an increase in worry, distress, sadness, grief, or relational conflict that appear to have no resolution. Sometimes we experience abrupt and traumatic situations that leave us feeling unsafe, disoriented, and confused by our emotional and physiological responses. Any of these experiences can be overwhelming, but a supportive therapeutic relationship combined with empirically based treatments can be helpful in managing the situations and finding resolutions.
