About
Our relationship to work and labor as Black people is distinct from other cultural groups. “You have to work twice as hard, to get what they have,” – sounds familiar doesn’t it? So many of us have internalized messages that overworking is the only way we can achieve happiness, peace & stability. We even take on leadership roles, with those internalized beliefs in the driver seat. Where do these beliefs even come from? Who were some of our earliest, and/or persistent models for labor, care, & rest? What can life look like if care was at the foundation of our lives, as opposed to an afterthought?
