While using traditional talk therapy, I also incorporate teaching and interactive cognitive restructuring during sessions. I allow the client to guide the session and their own work, but do not hold back observations about thought patterns and potential areas for growth. I treat all clients with unconditional positive regard and allow them to adapt within their own limits and social dynamics. Clients should always feel as though they have learned skills relevant to daily life.
