I have found lived experience, the school of hard knocks, and being a parent to be my greatest motivators for change. I view my role in the therapeutic relationship as one of a partnership best described in three words: non-judgmental, validating, and safe. My lived experience as a person in long-term recovery has given me insight and understanding not found in a textbook. The rigors of research and understanding evidence-based practice remain meaningless when being heard and seen are not practiced in the moment. Sometimes it isn't easy to know how all this fits together in a way that makes sense. This is where I can help.
