I've been around for a bit. I've seen a lot of really cool bands, and I've also seen clients from Gen X to Gen Alpha make meaningful, measurable progress towards a happier, more fulfilling life. The reality is that life is not fair; instead, it is complex and often messy. Bad things will happen to good people and pain, suffering, and injustice are part of the human condition. As a trauma-informed therapist, my eclectic blend of CBT and Existential modalities help my clients recognize their power to change what can be changed, and to choose to limit the energy and attention given to the things that cannot be changed. I help clients understand not only how the mind, body, and internalized messages and beliefs interact to either increase or reduce distress, but also explore the narratives and that are reinforcing unhappiness. We can choose to attend to things we cannot change, or change perspectives to open a path towards a more positive experience of life.
