We learn from our experiences—and sometimes those experiences “teach” us lessons that aren’t helpful. Childhood trauma, for example, may teach us that the world isn’t safe, that we aren’t lovable, or that something bad is always around the corner. Over time, these learned beliefs can create barriers to feeling safe, connected, and emotionally regulated.
