When I reflect on what being a therapist means to me, the words that come to me are hope, healing, connection, and wholeness. The entire reason that I am a therapist is to help my clients discover that these do not represent mere words, but signify real experiences. I desire that each person I encounter in my work to experience all that life has to offer. However, I recognize that living in this world is not easy, and there is suffering, loss, trauma, disconnection. These experiences, though incredibly difficult, can also be the impetus and foundation of profound and transformative healing.
