Entering into a counseling relationship can be a scary thing for many people. Some are hesitant about therapy based on past experience. Others are considering therapy for the very first time and really don't know what to expect. My approach to counseling begins with relaxed conversations aimed at establishing mutual trust and confidence. For my part, I pledge to be engaging, empathetic, culturally-sensitive, and client-centered, which includes a healthy amount of active listening. Moving forward, we will work together to identify strengths and skills and create a proactive strategy that is natural, realistic, and practical.
