"Hygge" (pronounced hyoo-guh) is a Danish word describing the feeling one experiences while cozying up by the fireplace with a good friend, often with a comforting hot beverage. Its origin is traced back to an Old Norse word meaning "protected from the outside world." Author Signe Johansen writes, “It’s about stepping back from the hectic pace of modern living and looking after ourselves; about savoring the small moments of joy and contentedness we experience in life.” This is exactly the type of environment that fosters the effective therapy work I strive to provide.
