I am often asked: “What is the focus and specialty of your psychotherapy practice?” And my sincere, honest answer is that “people are people, and pain is pain; and to the best of my ability, I listen and try to understand past and present circumstances that brought you to therapy.” Some of the reasons that brought you to therapy you already know. But some aspects of that pain are hidden and not yet known, what psychoanalysis describes as the unconscious. This unconscious pain, thoughts, beliefs show themselves in dreams and fantasies and in your daily life. Understanding them will enrich your self-understanding.
