Therapy strives for collective learning, growth, and expansion. I, too, find these values to be an important part of the counseling process. I view counseling as an opportunity to meet individuals where they are at, assist them with improving their current level of functioning and their ability to learn and utilize beneficial coping mechanisms. Some of the many purposes that counseling includes is improving relationships, facilitating behavior change, and promoting autonomy.
