About
Could your Child Benefit from Play Therapy? Children are not tiny adults. Nervousness, frustration, and anxiety feel strange and scary to a small person who has very little experience dealing with big feelings. Play therapy is a treatment that helps children who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and relationship disorders to express their emotions, improve their communication abilities, and learn to solve problems. This kind of therapy respects a child’s unique developmental level and looks for ways of helping by observing and interacting with how they play, which is the natural expressive “language” of children. View 4 Photos Play therapy is most often used for children ages 2-12, though it can also be used in varying forms with teenagers, as well as the family system. During play therapy sessions, I use various play materials, as well as role-playing, and other creative techniques that may actively engage the child and encourage exploration of their own experiences.
