In my work I stress empathy, mutuality, and openness. I see people with issues ranging from depression, to relationship concerns, and to problems of adjustment in work and life. I am straight but considered gay friendly and have a number of lesbian and gay patients. Most of my work is with adults ranging from late adolescence to old age. I also have a specialty of seeing couples in crisis. As a "self psychologist," I engage in talk therapy, which is to say, to probe in conversation the meanings of your behaviors, thoughts, dreams, and fantasies. I would say we live life looking forward but can only understand it looking back.
