About
English | español What if you could embrace all the parts of you, even the parts that are hard to like? What if you could feel curiosity towards your challenges, instead of fear or frustration? Somatic psychotherapy can help you learn to listen to your body (in addition to thoughts and emotions). In session, we will be in dialogue, but unlike many talk therapies, we pay extra attention to physical sensations in your body. We won’t do extensive movement, but might study how a posture or gesture impacts you. Working with the body can regulate the nervous system, integrate trauma, and find pathways to make the changes you want to see. Centering the body in my own therapy allowed me to shift my patterns more deeply and inspired me to train in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a style of talk therapy that centers the connection between mind and body. My experience isn't surprising given the research: many studies show that physiological states strongly influence our thoughts and feelings!
