Working with challenging, courageous clients for over two decades has fostered my curious, non-judgmental, non-authoritative attitude. Approaching clients without preconceived expectations lets me see them how they see themselves. I seek to help clients ask critical questions about their lives and understand what needs to change and what needs to be accepted. While it may be the trickiest part of therapy, it is also the most important. I work hard to not act too "therapisty," which is something that often hinders therapy particularly with adolescent clients (e.g., "How does that make you feel?").
