For most of us, living a life without pain and suffering is the ultimate goal. Oftentimes, we try to change or control everything in our external environment to find peace and happiness within ourselves. We may change jobs, move to a new city, or seek out new relationships – only to find that our pain and suffering still exist. As a result, we feel hopeless or powerless over our lives and may resort to destructive behavioral patterns to cope with our emotions. Over time, we may realize that – no matter where we go, or what we do – we are always left facing ourselves.
