My counseling experiences includes Inpatient, Outpatient and Crisis Stabilization Units with Florida Department of Corrections, The Mental Health Authority for a Medium to low-Risk Juvenile Inpatient Program, Community Social Service Agencies and Medicaid Programs. My years of experience have suggested that Depressive Disorders are managed best by the use of Psychotherapy. Whereas many clients may find it helpful to include Antidepressant, it has been my experience that medications alone are less effective and are often supported by Counseling Intervention with a Professional Counselor. I have had success with the Strength-Based Approach to psychotherapy that focuses on solution-building rather than problem-solving. SFBT concentrates on current circumstances and future hopes.
