People seek therapy because they struggle with depression, anxiety, relationships, work, or faith that is no longer working for them. Expectations of life and relationships are frequently determined by our experiences in our formative years. Therapy provides a place where our stories can be told and understood, and involves examining the past, along with expectations and hopes, so that we can come to see more clearly what changes are necessary to experience the future we desire. As we understand how our past has shaped us and begin to experience something new, we are freer to choose growth and health for ourselves.
