Trauma is a lasting emotional response resulting from experiencing one or more distressing events that can change our sense of safety, sense of self and the ability to self-regulate, navigate daily interactions and relationships. For almost 20 years I have worked with survivors of sexual trauma, abusive relationships and intimate partner violence. Since 2016 I have been practicing individual and group therapy with survivors and I have used various therapy modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) to process traumatic and adverse experiences that aids in reaching an adaptive resolution.
