I have been a social worker at a large NYC hospital for over thirty years, in addition to maintaining a private practice. Most of the people I've encountered have either struggled with a chronic condition and all the associated family and mental health issues- or had the upheaval of a serious diagnosis. Illness impacts every aspect of an individuals life- from employment, to disclosure, to intimate relationships. My approach is empathetic, yet direct and I have an excellent grasp of the challenges of dealing with the health care system. My work is to empower clients to utilize their strengths and to develop new coping strategies.
