Life can often times make us feel like a crab without a shell, being thrown around by the waves into the rocks of the jetty. For many of us, there was never a "before" period - rather, the struggle has been all one has known. Individuals born into dysfunctional family systems often find that vulnerabilities from childhood not only fail to leave us in adulthood, but often make frequent and unwelcome appearances in the form of insecurity, shame, misplaced guilt and difficulty in relationships, to name a few. This type of aversive life experience, otherwise known as Complex Trauma (CPTSD), can be healed with the proper use of therapy.
