You typically seek out therapy when feeling confusion, despair, loss, conflict, or other negative thoughts and emotions. I see my job as a facilitator. I set a slow and steady agenda where you can do the work to become less confused, better aware, and more comfortable to face the issues with which you struggle. Life (good and bad) continues once our hour session is done. My goal is that you can learn to manage life when not with me in session. Therapy is a theory/science and you should receive services from someone consistently up-to-date on that theory/science. I am also a tenured professor of counseling and Director of Graduate Counseling Programs at Centenary University. I train students to become professional counselors and teach graduate counseling courses.
