I see cancer patients and their families across the cancer continuum, from diagnosis, treatment, to survivorship or recurrence and end of life. I am passionate about working with this patient group. Diagnosis and treatment of cancer is a major life stress. Cancer care today provides state of the art biomedical treatment but fails to address the psychological problems associated with the illness. Patients need support coping with a wide range of distressing emotions such as anxiety, depression and confusion. In today's managed care environment, busy outpatient clinics make it difficult for oncologists to provide psychosocial support for their patients.
