Therapy is not about fixing what is "broken". It is similar to kintsugi- the Japanese art of repairing cracked pottery with gold. The flaws do not disappear, rather they lead to strength and are a part of the story. I see therapy the same way. It is the process of understanding, healing, making meaning, and integrating, but not erasing. I have a Bachelors of Fine Art (BFA) with a double major in Psychology from Alma College. I earned my Master in Social Work (LMSW) from Wayne State University in 2008. I am also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) and an NASW member.
