The purpose of psychotherapy is to assist the patient with knowing the Self: their intrinsic goodness, wisdom and strength found within. For patients, this requires a setting aside of assumptions about the self and others in order for curiosity to emerge. In psychotherapy, we explore what brings meaning to life and what creates value. We ask, “Do my actions bring me closer to the person I want to be?” As I assist the patient with shoring up coping skills we also explore the wondrous road back to the Self.
