Much of my experience has involved helping adolescents and adults transition to a new stage of life when old habits are no longer working and new skills are needed to live a more satisfying life. This could involve improving how the person handles anxiety or depression, moving beyond a substance use problem, adjusting to the stress of a new life challenge, or improving how things are going at work, at school, or in a relationship. I enjoy helping clients overcome challenges by using a solution-focused approach to identify and employ existing strengths, and then by integrating a variety of other therapy techniques to help the client build the new skills needed to accomplish their goals. This could be through new thinking and behavior patterns, or new emotion-regulation skills.
