Growing up, therapy was a foreign concept in my world. It wasn't something embraced by the culture around me, and I had no idea that techniques existed to positively shape one's thought process. Everything changed when I started working as a tech at the Betty Ford Center. I found myself surrounded by compassionate therapists who took me under their wing. Though I wasn't their client, they kindly listened to my struggles and helped me process the trauma I had endured. Their guidance was life-altering - it taught me that I didn't have to spend my life suffering from the pains of the past. A new path forward was possible.
