The exchange between you and therapist should be safe, honest and challenging. But it should also have humor, some guidance toward other resources but mostly it should not feel antiseptic to you---not contrived or distant and removed. This is about you--your life and the trust you put into your therapist should be received with honor and returned to you with respect and truth and consistency of presence. I am not going to spend time here telling you the approach I use, the methodology I subscribe to because every approach is unique to the person with whom I am working. You are unique and so should be your therapy.
