When people call me, it's usually because they've reached a point where whatever is happening is hard to manage alone. Most often, it is a difficult call to make. The circumstances couldn't be more personal and the idea of talking to a stranger, however professional, is a daunting bridge to cross. They make that call when their accustomed solutions no longer work or only make them feel worse. They want help to solve what otherwise seems unsolvable, to manage what seems unmanageable, to get support during a crisis or grappling with a loss. They want to figure out how to feel better.
