About
In many ways, animals embody mindfulness: they are present in the moment, without judgment. It was my love for animals, my work in animal rescue, and my experience volunteering with my dog as a pet therapy team that solidified my desire to become a psychotherapist. I witnessed first-hand the myriad therapeutic benefits that animals bring to humans, and I thought: Not only do I want to emulate the traits of empathy, authenticity, non-judgment, and being in-the-moment, but I want to employ them in an intentional manner. After working as an actor and teacher, I returned to school to pursue my MSW, then earned my LCSW. I have since worked as a therapist - with and without dogs present - in correctional, clinical, legal, and educational settings, as well as at domestic violence shelters. In all these settings, I have excelled at engaging and building connection with people of diverse backgrounds, from a place of unconditional acceptance and cultural humility.
