My foundation as a psychotherapist began with art. My first degree was from the San Francisco Art Institute. Art making is always a form of self-study. My approach to to art was always with an interest in making concrete shapes from the mystery of one’s internal life. Because of this psychological understanding of art, I pursued a master’s degree in art therapy. While working as an Art Therapist I also served as a caseworker with the chronically mentally ill population. I wanted to further my education so enrolled in a social work program which culminated in my receiving an MSW and then worked to earn a LCSW.
