As a licensed marriage and family therapist for over 35 years, much of it working with first responders, fire fighters, comm operators and veterans. Common relationship struggles include the "couple trifecta": communication, sex/intimacy and finances. The good news is these are skills, which means they can be learned, improved and modified. Clients typically seek therapy when they sense something is wrong. Using a family systems approach can help inform us as to why we act certain ways and learn how to take steps to improve our current circumstances. Changing how we think can open the door to improved relationship health. People do what they know, until they know differently. Often we learn how to be in relationships based on the "family" who raised us: which may not have been ideal. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families struggling with addictions, co-dependency, trauma, depression, anxiety and life transitions.
