If you’ve lived through long-term emotional pain, especially in childhood, it may have shaped the way you see yourself. Maybe you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive,” “too much,” or that you should just get over it. You may carry a sense of emptiness or not feeling good enough. It can look like chronic anxiety or depression, self-criticism, people pleasing, over-achieving, taking care of everyone, avoiding, or isolated while still longing for connection. You may function well on the outside while feeling disconnected on the inside. These responses are not flaws! They are adaptive survival strategies that have helped you cope. Therapy with me is about understanding why your symptoms make sense given what you’ve endured, and learning how to work with your nervous system rather than fighting it. Together, we will make sense of your symptoms, reduce overwhelming emotional states, and gently shift patterns that once protected you but now keep you feeling stuck.
