“I’m not good enough”, “I am not important”, “I am bad”.... These are the types of phrases that can repeat in our minds over and over again. They shape how we view ourselves and affect our relationships with others. These types of beliefs may have stemmed from one particular event but now feel like they’ve adopted permanent space in your mind and soul, and somehow feel like they can apply to a vast number of your experiences now. Perhaps some of those memories still haunt you with anxiety when they come to mind, or maybe you struggle to even identify the source of that anxiety. As an EMDR therapist, my hope is that we can change those phrases to “I AM good enough”, “I AM important”, “I did the best I could”, while decreasing the amount of anxiety or negative emotion attached to them. I want you to live in freedom from your negative memories and see what it might be like to live truly believing positive things about yourself.
