My ideal client may or may not have previous experience with therapy, but they are someone who is beginning to recognize that their current coping strategies—whether emotional avoidance, impulsive or high-risk behaviors, substance misuse, or emotional reactivity—are no longer serving them. What makes them an ideal client is not their readiness or success, but their willingness—to show up authentically, explore uncomfortable truths, and engage in the hard work of change, even when it feels daunting.
