Ideal clients respect the boundaries of the relationship and know when and how to use their therapist (who helps). It's an old joke that people come to therapy because of someone else who really needs it, but to me, we're all a little (or a lot) blind to our own stuff. Therapy is, or should be, a safe place. Most seasoned therapists are still in it because they find it effective and personally gratifying. I guess I'm one.
