I have the utmost respect for lived experience. I'm convinced we are influenced by early relationships and unconscious patterns, as well as social, cultural, and systemic forces that surround us. Experiences such as racism, gendered expectations, economic pressure, and trauma don’t just happen “outside” of us—they profoundly influence how we see ourselves and relate to others. There is a unique pain that comes from trying to survive in a world that often wasn’t built with us in mind. By understanding how past experiences and present social realities intersect, we can build greater insight, self-compassion, growth, and resilience.
