Winter in Maine can be hard for many people. The long, frigid, dark days may drag by, particularly if you aren't a winter sports kind of person. That lack of sunlight can take its toll on mental health, as can the tendency to ruminate on our failures and shortcomings when there is nothing else to distract us (Kind of like waking up at 2:30 a.m. and playing the extended dance-mix version in our heads of all of our worst and most embarrassing moments or worries about things we can't control). We therapists usually have an uptick in clientele this time of year which typically trends downward once the warmer weather approaches.
