“I’m not sure why I just shared all of that with you” is a comment I have heard many times in my life and is one of the reasons I chose mental health counseling as a profession. When someone is hurting and senses they are in the presence of another who is truly curious about and accepting of them, they feel seen and understood. This is where healing takes place. People in all stages of life journey through uncharted paths that can lead to confusion, anxiety, and despair. Getting relief from the pain that can feel devastating and hopeless seems like a never-ending war. It is possible to feel whole again. It is possible to live a life worth living.
