I believe entering into a therapeutic relationship requires courage and just enough hope and willingness to risk trusting. You've been trusting a substance: whether it's alcohol, drugs, compulsive eating, starving, bulimia... A part of you wants to stop but you realize that you are losing control, you've lost the power of choice. Profound shame goes hand to hand with addiction and shame interferes with asking for help. Addictions/eating disorders rob a person of being fully alive asking for help is vital, we cannot recover alone.
