Ms. Aken is a seasoned counselor with 15 years of experience working with children in New Orleans. She has had the privilege of supporting young people both in their homes and school environments, helping children ages 3 to 16 navigate a wide range of challenges. Specializing in building prosocial skills, Ms. Aken works with children facing a diverse set of challenges. She is deeply committed to normalizing these challenges and fostering emotional resilience, providing families with valuable education on brain development and practical guidance for skill-building. In 2009, she earned a Masters Degree in Counseling at Loyola University of New Orleans. She completed training that supports children experiencing anxiety through the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program. She has worked and continues to work in the New Orleans charter schools providing counseling/behavior support for kids.
