I practice psychodynamic therapy, a type of psychotherapy that explores the underlying causes of distressing emotions and behavior patterns. My primary clinical focus has been on treating borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia, though I see a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. I have particular interest in working with people who have not previously, or only partially, responded to treatment. In addition to my private work, I hold faculty appointments in the departments of psychiatry at the University of Central Florida and Tufts Medical School. I received my academic and clinical training at the University of Pittsburgh and its affiliated psychiatric hospital, where I have also worked on staff, and completed additional postgraduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I am actively involved in the didactic teaching and supervision of psychiatry trainees. I also teach psychoanalytic candidates.
