Providing therapy, I have come to believe that the quality of my relationship with clients is critical. Numerous studies support this, irrespective of which psychotherapy is used. I view clients' feeling understood as essential to building an effective therapeutic relationship that allows a collaborative effort to achieve positive change. I bring to this work empathy, respect, a humanistic sensibility, decades of experience in employing various individual and family therapeutic intervention strategies (such as cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy) to address different issues in diverse settings and with diverse clients.
