I just want my child to be their normal self again. That is what I often hear at the beginning of therapy. It is very difficult to know how to handle changes like anger, acting out, sadness, or keeping to themselves. These problems affect the child, and everyone else involved in their daily lives. I will tailor therapy to meet you and/or your child's specific needs, and work towards getting "back to normal" (or improving on what normal has been). The underlying reason for being seen may be pretty serious, but children tend to enjoy the process of play therapy (ages 4 and up). Sessions are tailored to the person's personality, age, temperament and what works best for them. Parents are always kept in the loop with time for questions and updates each session.
