The people who usually see me are tired of being fearful, angry, depressed, beaten down, etc., and are ready to face the past so that they can live a more joy-filled life. They are trapped in the past, directly or indirectly, reliving the pain and horrors. It is exhausting, and increasingly, it is the only way to see the world. Understandably, they want to stop hurting and repeating the past and find a way forward. While they do not forget it, they want to be no longer trapped in the emotions accompanying memories. They want it to be a part of their past, not their present.
