I love working with people during the "family building" stage of life: pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting young kids. Many new parents feel: sadness, hopelessness, worry, irritability, panic and/or sleep disruptions. In therapy, clients tell me they feel overwhelmed, stressed out, and in "survival mode." They need more support from their family, and they are afraid of what's to come. Some are going through the most painful time in their lives. Above all else, these parents need someone to listen to them, to SEE them, and to support them in all their complexity. People don't want to be judged, they want to be understood.
