Hi! My name is Monica Smith. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in trauma. My approach is action based, and relationship centered. I help individuals and couples reclaim their personal power and craft a life that is meaningful and safe. Trauma is complicated and requires multiple approaches, but one approach I never use is the retelling of the trauma story. The event is not the trauma. If it was, everyone would be fine as soon as the event ended. Trauma lives in the present, even if the event was decades ago.
