Psychoanalysis is a unique experience in which one has a singular, protected space to explore the furthest reaches of one’s mind in all its complexity. In the context of an intimate, multi-dimensional, and transformative therapeutic relationship, a creative process develops as two people reflect together in a room. Narratives are shaken, and new language is forged in articulating what has hitherto remained indeterminate. We're all motivated to deaden certain feelings, thoughts, and sensitivities within ourselves, which comes at some cost to one’s ability to remain open to living a life creatively and free from compulsion.
