I like to know my clients in the total context of their lives, not just their symptoms and diagnosis. With clients I build comfortable, in-depth relationships with great safety and trust by focusing on what matters to my clients. We work together, collaborating. That is co-investigating beliefs, patterns of thinking and behaving, clarifying personal values and practicing new skills and ways of being. I am direct and provide accurate guidance. I help clients take strategic steps. Many clients are awe-inspired by their capacities to create change in their lives. This is powerful stuff! Psychoherapy is a fascinating personal project, a study of experiences. Noticing, experiencing unspoken buried emotions, putting words on feelings, integrating understandings, taking action consistent with our inventories of values, defines our purpose. Next, taking action in the world makes the therapy a useful method of changing one's life. So liberating!
